New Staff Profile: Katia

We’re so excited to welcome back Katia Iverson Kadogo after few years away. Katia is returning in the role of Manager of Health and Education, a new role that will oversee our expanded programming in that area. In this position, she’ll be providing support to our Intensive Case Management program, Cultural Orientation Workshops, and the Covid Care Navigators network. As of this spring, MCC has taken on coordination of the whole network of partners involved providing covid-related information and support to immigrants and refugees across Minnesota.

During her time away from Refugee Services, Katia spent time working with Avivo, where she was a housing case manager working with unhoused individuals in tent encampments and with the Center for Victims of Torture. During her tenure at CVT, Katia had the opportunity to learn about asylum seekers, ICE detention, and the legal support system for asylum seekers. She helped CVT clients, who were mostly asylum seekers, to enroll in health insurance and navigate the health care system in Minnesota, as well as managing their team of 25 interpreters and conducting screening interviews for potential new clients.

Another big change over the last few years for Katia is that she got married and she and her husband welcomed a daughter, Noor’a, this March. Welcome back, Katia!
